The Starlings BIO

The Starlings (formerly X-Ray) are an innovative, indie - alt- rock band from Seattle, WA formed by the twin brothers Jim (vocals & guitar) & John Steffen (drums) (aka ‘the twins’), with Darren Loucas (guitar virtuoso & multi-instrumentalist) playing bass, and harmonica innovator Sean Divine playing the harps. The Starlings' members live in Seattle, WA and Harpers Ferry, WV (where the John Brown raid-arguably the precipitating event leading to the U.S. Civil War-occurred). Until August 2, 2022 they were called X-Ray, and had spent 20 years performing live shows (playing opening spots for Cake, Phish, Bo Diddley, James Cotton, Coco Montoya and more) and making records in the northwest United States. These records are available here on our Music page.

The Starlings released released ‘Steffenwolf' in 2022. It contains beat-driven, melodic and soulful songs about life in the current world. It contains the singles 'John Brown', 'Help', 'Bag', 'Goin' Home' and 'Lucinda'.
